Step One IDEAL CLIENT :
Determine your Ideal Client and create content that speaks to this one person.
I interviewed a number of marketers last week for our upcoming Summit and the one thing I heard over and over from marketers in every niche’ and specialty is YOU must determine who you are talking to before you create a product, write content and definitely before you build a course.
If you are a coach, healer or entrepreneur your first step should be to define your Ideal Audience.
The response I hear from every coach is
– I can help everyone
– I do so many different things
– I don’t know who they are?
If you have been doing this a while, you have probably helped a lot of people from all different walks of life, ages and gender.
If you are new, you may have not found the ideal person to work with yet.
Either way, we will help determine your Ideal Client so you can create content that speaks directly to them.
When you get it right, it is like you are reading their mind!
This week we will dive into determining your Ideal Client and how you can create content that will reach them, develop connections and trust.
Step Two IDC –Getting to know them.
Yesterday we talked about developing your Ideal Client Avatar so you can create content that will speak directly to them and cut through the noise of our busy market place.
Now that we have determined we need to know this person, let’s start shaping who this person is.
When determining who you your IDC is, I would like you to first look at your past.
Who have you worked with that really inspires you to do great work. This is a little different than, who do like to work with.
I make this distinction, because I have listened too, read and watch a hundred videos about creating your avatar, ideal client, or persona and a lot of them say find the person that inspires you to get our of bed in the morning. I challenge that on the premise that growth happens when we have to step out side of our comfort zone.
We all work with people that are nice and pleasant and wonderful, but do they challenge us to be better?
Do we look at our work and say, I really have to step up my game to do this work!
That is the inspiration and challenge we are looking for.
That person who will push us to be better, stronger and continually challenge our comfort zone.
Take a moment to write down who challenges you, make a list of 5-20 people. The more the you put into this exercise the more you will get out of it.
What patterns do you see when looking at this list? Do you see a gender, age or occupational similarity?
Keep that list and think about it. Tomorrow we will explore this idea further and continue to develop your Ideal Client!!
Step Three Your Ideal Client comes alive
This week we are exploring how to discover your Ideal Client. To start we discussed why it is so important to determine who your Idea Client is and then we created a list of the people who challenge us to our best self.
Now let’s make this person come alive.
When we look at our list of people who challenge us to better, what type of similarities do we see in this list? Can we see a pattern in gender, age range, occupation, marital status, income or lifestyle.
When we can narrow down our focus, we have the opportunity to really hone in our niche’
What I would like you to do today is use your list and create a group of similar people based on gender, age range, occupation, marital status, income or lifestyle.
Look for an age range as tight as possible, 5-10 years of a generation.
Look for a gender if possible, a specific job or industry, are they single or married.
And finally, how much money do they make and what type of lifestyle do they lead.
We are creating a crystal clear picture of who this person is and what they do.
Take some time today and continue to dial in your IDC. Tomorrow we will explore this idea further and continue to develop your Ideal Client!!
Step Four – Passion
PASSION – What is your Ideal Client passionate about?
This week we are exploring how to discover your Ideal Client. To start we discussed why it is so important to determine who your Idea Client and then created a list of the people who challenge us to our best self and then dialed in on who they are.
The next step is determining your Ideal Clients passion.
When you take the time to discover what your IDC is passionate about, what they believe and stand for your will clarify your message.
There is a saying” If I had more time I would write you a shorter letter” and when you discover your IDC it will be like hanging out with your best of all friends where you sometimes can say a word with a look and they know exactly what you are thinking.
What is your Ideal Client passionate about?
What beliefs and ideals shape their decision making?
Are there strong civic, political or social beliefs that will influence their decision making?
Create a word cloud of all of these beliefs to help you shape your IDC and hwo you can talk to them?
Tomorrow we are going to put all of this together to create an Avatar we can use the foundation or our marketing efforts!!
Last week we talked
I thought of a different aspect of this equation. How do we show up when we are speaking to our Ideal Client. Think about you and how you want to present yourself one year from now. A lot of us want to be a better version of ourselves as we work through this journey we are on.
How do you want to show up?
How would you speak to people if you were at that level of success?
For a lot of us, it’s speaking with confidence and from a place of accomplishment.
Now factor that into creating content for your Ideal Client.
Would you speak more directly than you do know?
Would you create more content?
Would you get in front of the camera because you are more confident?
If you answered yes to any of these then go and create that content
Create more, create with confidence and share your Ideal Self with your Ideal Client’s!!
Stay Awesome and have a wonderful day!
